The Prompt Writing Formula

Every great vibe coding prompt follows the same structure:

[ACTION] a [TYPE OF THING] called [NAME] that [CORE PURPOSE].

Tech stack: [framework, database, styling preferences]
Design: [visual description — dark/light, color scheme, style]
Features:
  - [Specific feature 1]
  - [Specific feature 2]
  - [Specific feature 3]

Constraints:
  - [No backend / use localStorage / keep it simple]
  - [Must be mobile responsive]
  - [Use [specific library] for [specific purpose]]

Common Mistakes to Avoid

Being too vague
"Make me an app" → "Build a habit tracker with daily check-ins and streak counters using React and localStorage"
Too many features at once
Start with the core 3 features. Add more in follow-up prompts after the first version works.
Skipping the tech stack
If you don't specify, the AI picks for you. Always state your stack preferences.
No design direction
Add 2-3 words of design direction: "dark minimal", "clean white", "Stripe-inspired", "warm editorial".
